Confindustria's Energy Day
Roma, 1st December 2004

The Confindustria's Energy Day was held in Rome on the 1st of December 2004 and it was the occasion for a debate behind closed doors between producers and consumers. The analysis carried out by Confindustria and presented by Emma Marcegaglia, Confindustria's Vice-President, started by the consideration that Italian companies pay an higher price for electricity and natural gas than their European counterparts. Despite the fact that towards 2009 the gap with the rest of the European Union countries will be presumably reduced, according to Confindustria temporary measures are needed to avoid to compromise the competitiveness of the Italian companies in the next five years.
Representatives of companies that operate in the energy field attended the "Energy Day". Among them: Alberto Meomartini (on behalf of Eni), Paolo Scaroni (ENEL) and Umberto Quadrino (Edison). In the afternoon a roundtable has taken place attended by: Giuseppe Tesauro (Authority for Competition and Market), Alessandro Ortis (Authority Electricity and Gas), Sergio Garribba (Ministry for Productive Activities) and Corrado Clini (Ministry for the Environment). The meeting was closed by Antonio Marzano (Minister for Productive Activities) and Luca Cordero di Montezemolo (Confindustria's President).
