Annual Meeting of the Hydrocarbons and Geothermal
Natural Resources and New Energy Law: operators' role and opportunities for Government/Regions

The Annual Meeting of the "Hydrocarbons and Geothermal" Section of Assomineraria was held in Parma on the 23rd of october 2004. The title of the Meeting was: Natural Resources and New Energy Law: operators' role and opportunities for Government/Regions. The main focus in all the presentations, during the following discussion and the roundtable was the new Energy Law n.239/2004 (also known as "Marzano Law"). The Meeting was attended by all the main players in the Italian oil & gas industry. Giovanni Dell'Elce (Under-Secretary, Ministry for Productive Activities), Domenico Martino (Director UNMIG/MAP) and Bruno Agricola (Ministry for the Environment) partecipated in representation of the Government while the representatives of the Conference of Regions were Luigi Paldino (Tuscany), Luigi Vigliero and Vito Orazio Colonna (Piemonte). Among the operators, together with Stefano Cao, Chairman of Assomineraria, the Chairmen of the three Sections: Salvatore D'Andrea (Hydrocarbons and Geothermal), Marco Serorio (Mining) and Marco Cercato on behalf of Paolo Campo (Manufacturers and Suppliers of Equipments and Services). All the speakers outlined the positive indications for the Italian energy sector emerging from the approval of the Marzano Law which should provide to companies a clearer regulatory framework to develop domestic natural resources. In particular, the Marzano Law should help companies to reduce the time to market and put it more in line with international standards.
